Peak week is here. This week I’m running the highest volume yet in my 12-week build to the Mesa Marathon (Feb 14, 2026). This week: 92 miles total, including a tough 12x800m session and a massive 23-mile Canova-style long run in brutal winter conditions. Wednesday at Clayton Track with LIS Racing Team + Forest Park Track Club (huge turnout!): • 12x800m workout – my biggest volume ever on this session • Goal: 2:45–2:40 per rep (5:30–5:20 pace range) • Goal Smashed: closed hard in 2:35 and 2:32 on the last two (5:10 & 5:04 pace) The lock in was real. Saturday at Forest Park: Peak long run in the teeth of a major winter storm • Temp: -6°F real feel + windy AF – only window before the blizzard hit • Canova-style: 5-5-5K with 1K float recoveries (x3) • Prescribed: 5Ks at 6:15–6:02 pace, floats ~6:50 • Nailed it: 23 miles total @ 6:33 avg pace overall • 5K reps averaged 6:10–6:05 pace with 1k floats @ 6:50 pace • Came out with a huge mental W because that was the hardest session of my life due to conditions This is the grind - high-volume speed work + tough long runs certainly show the fitness is there.l for my sub 2:40 goal.
